Today we will be talking about Renewable Energy.

Today we will be talking about Renewable Energy. So what is renewable energy? It is energy that has been used from earths natural resources that are not limited. Being a alternative to the regular energy that needs fossil fuels which is a limited resource.

Some of the most common renewable energy used today are geothermal, wind, hydro, solar, biomass. Some benefits from renewable energy are cleaner energy for the environment which will help global warming, improved public safety, stable energy prices and no limit on earths natural resources. Some problems with renewable energy are taking up a lot of land space and blocked scenic views, low energy amount produced, loss of habitats, reliance on weather, & geographic limitations.

So if you find yourself getting curious, ask us about renewable energy on your next service to fully understand how it works.

Light bulbs today and how to choose which one is best for you.

As more people work from home, lighting for home offices are trending more now. So what is up with all the different light bulbs?

Incandescent Lights, the most common type of bulb and usually last between 700 to 1,000 hours.  However, they are not as energy efficient as other options.

Halogen bulbs are a type of incandescent bulb that is close to natural daylight. They are a little more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs, but they are more expensive.

LED Lights, are extremely energy-efficient and can provide both directional and diffused light, making them great for under-counter task lighting as well as overall room illumination.

CFL Lights Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) consume a quarter of the energy that incandescent bulbs do and last 10 times longer. They are also quieter, instant on and have warmer tones.

When buying make sure to read the package. Using light bulbs to save energy is extremely important for our environment and for your energy costs too.

Tips Check into LED Christmas lights. Saves you energy and money!   If you are looking for someone to put them up and take them down for you, give us a call at 916-929-7995.

Let’s Talk About Shock Prevention

Let’s Talk About Shock Prevention. What is it that keeps us safe from electrical shock from an electrical outlet or appliance? Unfortunately, there have been incidents in the past from incorrect installations or unknown violations. You probably wonder what safety precautions are available today to keep your home and loved ones safe.

Well you are just in luck, in the year 1961 Charles Dalziel invented the ground fault circuit interrupter outlet (GFCI) for preventing a ground fault.  How it works is, when a GFCI detects any unwanted current on non-energized metal material such as a metal counter, surface or water leakage, it will trip to shut off and not allow the current to flow through.

Therefore, if you are ever unsure about the condition of an old outlet, appliance and most importantly safety, just give us a call to explore your options with replacing a standard outlet with a GFCI, giving you more comfortably & value for your home.

Smart Homes and Wireless Devices

Smart Homes and Wireless Devices

Today I will be talking about wireless devises such as switches and smart homes.

1) Wireless Devices

These are really convenient they allow you to switch on and off devices anywhere you are. Also not just lighting you can lock  or unlock doors anywhere you are. Turn on and off your A/C before you  get home. You can also set schedules for all these devices. Think about daylight savings an all those timers you wont ever have to reset again. To have all these cool efficient features you must first have a smart home with Wifi.

2) Smart Homes

Smart homes are not as complicated as they sound. There’re  just a home with wireless or Ethernet internet. With devices ready for wireless connections such as Alexa, Siri or even Google.  Connecting your devices  to the internet allows you access even when your away from home. When buying a home make sure you are protected.

Ground Fault Protection

Usually are a GFCI outlets located through out your home and garage. They have a a reset button on them, so when tripped you can reset them by pushing the button.

Ground Fault Breaker Protection

They are installed to protect the circuit from ground faults they are located in the circuit breaker panel and  are used to protect outdoor equipment flex spas pool pumps etc. Call a electrician to learn more.

Arc Fault Breakers Protection

These are similar to ground fault breakers located in the breaker panel but they are a little bit different in what they do. They sense arcing which can be a fire hazard.  This can occur when there is a loose connection in the circuit which is usually caused by a quick connect on connections. When in doubt, call an electrician for a home inspection.
